Before you buy that new USB mouse, take a moment to check the length of its USB cable. Contrary to common sense, some manufacturers appear to be providing USB mice with cables as short as two feet long. While this is ideal if your USB hub is right on the desktop (i.e., integrated into a monitor or keyboard), it is totally inadequate for runs to a USB port on the PC. Unless that USB you intend to use sits at or near the front of your system, you’ll be severely restricted with a mouse cable that short. If you cannot determine the length of the USB mouse cable in advance, look for another make or model.
