Clever Dictionary was born out of frustration. Its creator, Lee Powell, a published author, software engineer and the developer of the award winning Scrivener for Windows, built Clever Dictionary over three years in his spare time as a way of assisting him complete his upcoming novel without having to spend valuable time or risk being side tracked going from site to site searching for synonyms and famous quotations. After sharing it with several writing colleagues, students and academics, it became clear that Clever Dictionary was something that people of all ages could benefit from.
