SARATOGA, CA – March 29, 2010 – Conformiq, Inc., a worldwide provider of software test design solutions, today announced the company has hired Peter S. Magnusson as vice president of marketing.
“I personally asked Peter join the team to take Conformiq’s Automated Test Design proposition to the next level,” said Michael Mandahl, general partner
of Nexit Ventures and Board Chairman for Conformiq. “His personal experience in guiding some of the world’s leading systems companies to innovate their R&D processes using high tech software tools is going to provide great value to the whole community for Automated Test Design.”
Magnusson is a computer scientist, software executive and entrepreneur. As a senior researcher at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS),
Magnusson developed the complete systems simulation environment for software developers known as SimicsT, which has become the standard simulator for developing high-end systems. Based upon that innovation, Magnusson founded Virtutech to commercialize the technology as a development environment, enabling faster time to market. Magnusson built Virtutech as CEO for eight years and then served on the Board of Directors until the company’s acquisition by Intel earlier this year. A significant number of the world’s electronic systems today are modeled with Simics. Magnusson has also been an investment advisor, public speaker, and technology columnist.
“The Conformiq technology really impressed me,” says Magnusson. “Model based testing in general, and Conformiq Automated Test Design in particular, is a dark horse in software development. The market has not realized how far model based testing has come. We can generate high quality test cases using modeling in a fraction of the time it would take to do so manually. And since testing is on the order of half the cost of software development, this
is going to be a very big deal. And it’s going to be a lot of fun to help the market realize this.”
Conformiq Automated Test DesignT tools automate the design of functional tests for software and systems, a traditionally manual and time-consuming
task. Software tests are generated from high-level models without user intervention, complete with browsable documentation and executable test
scripts in industry standard formats like Python, TCL, or TTCN-3. The models describe the products being tested and can be created in a fraction of the
time needed to construct the corresponding test cases by hand. The tools allow the users to define their own output formats, making seamless
application on existing proprietary test execution and management platforms easy. Conformiq delivers an array of services to successfully transition
customers from manual test design methods and enable them to enjoy the benefits of automated test design, which include higher productivity, better
coverage and reduced number of customer-found defects.
Privately held Conformiq was founded in Finland and is headquartered in Saratoga, California and has offices in Germany, Finland and Sweden.
