Chicago Company Marches to Indianapolis to Bring World Class Earplugs and Earphones to DCI World Championships
Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) August 19, 2015
The roar of the crowd attending the Drum Corps International World Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN two weekends ago was that much more manageable due to the presence of a team from Etymotic. When Etymotic took the field Saturday night before the finals, it was not to compete, but to be recognized for their sponsorship. Etymotic’s contribution to the hearing wellness of the Drum Corps community has spanned many years.
“Drum Corps shows are loud!” said Etymotic’s Global Sales Operations Manager, Charlene Clements, “and it was great to meet a lot of Drum Corps fans, families and marchers in our booth and answer questions about Etymotic earplugs and earphones.”
Etymotic is also a sponsor of DCI’s “DrumLine Battle,” which consists of a series of competitions in the U.S. and around the world, the latest of which took place last Saturday at a plaza on Georgia Street on the morning of the Championship’s finals. DrumLine Battle units compete in a rectangular 51’ by 39’ “battle zone” with a neutral area in the middle, where groups alternate by giving high energy, two-minute performances. Judges rate a unit’s “technicality, stunts, unique moves, one-upmanship, showmanship, attitude, and of course, great drumming.” And yes, those performances are loud too. Even outdoors.
“Etymotic is working to bring its best-in-class passive and active earplugs to places where people need hearing protection, whether it’s in the workplace, at live music performances or in travel or sporting environments,” said Etymotic’s Manager of Product Training and Customer Service, Rick Carlson, who was also in the Etymotic booth at the DCI event. “And, it’s gratifying to see how many young marchers and Drum Corps fans are already aware of the need for hearing protection when we meet them. It’s clear that Etymotic is in the right place at DCI events!”
