Expert tips to measure your search engine optimization efforts

However, clients are not often taught how to measure their SEO success and become frustrated with the experience.

* Guess Keywords: Write down all of the keywords you think someone would use to find your business. Ask customers what words they search when looking for a specific product or service. Add all of these keywords to a list.

* Get Keyword Help: Enter all of the keywords from your list into Google’s free keyword select tool <https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal> . The tool will help you create a master spreadsheet of the top searched keywords, which will help decide on their order of importance.

* Benchmark: The only way to measure the success of a SEO campaign is to find out where the website initially ranks for each of your keywords. Measure your website’s ranking on a monthly basis by clicking on advanced search preferences in Google search. Change the settings from show top ten results to show top 100Â’, and write your keyword into the Find web pages that have all these words box. To find out where you rank within the top 100, press CTL F and type in your website domain. This allows you to discover your initial ranking to benchmark your SEO campaign from.

Using these simple tips companies can easily understand how successful their SEO campaign really is. Once businesses learn where they initially stand in Google rankings, it’s quite easy to track results, says Scott Wilson, Googling their business keywords weekly will allow companies to see any progress moving up the rankings  added Wilson.
