Greening IT: Thousands of people “powering down” on August 26, 2011

Ø  Join the party:  74 percent of organizations have or are developing programs to manage and reduce energy use

Ø  Big results:  Of this group, 56 percent – up from 39 percent in 2008 – have reduced their IT energy costs significantly

Ø  Shutting down to save:  Many organizations are shutting down equipment during off-peak operations to save energy

These are just some of the key findings from the 2010 Energy Efficient IT Report issued by CDW LLC, a leading provider of technology products and services to business, government, education, and healthcare.  The report identifies where energy efficiency ranks in IT decision-making priorities, how organizations are improving efficiency, and what challenges hinder efficiency goals.
