Locutus Codeware has released a new version of WetSock, a meteorological tool that lets you check weather conditions and forecasts in over 3300 cities around the world. Version 4.0 now includes more accurate and detailed forecasts, and according to Locutus Codeware, the aviation forecasts are delivered in much plainer language than in previous versions. The latest version also allows for monitoring multiple cities simultaneously, customizing how the information is presented on your computer, and gives users greater control over exactly what type of weather info they get. And while the information is obtained via the Internet, you won’t have to dial in to your Internet service provider each time you want to update weather information. Whenever you’re online, Wetsock updates the information automatically. Registration for the shareware program is $12; you can download it from Locutus Codeware’s site.

Net Controls Corp. has released version 2.0.1. of My Yahoo News Ticker, which delivers a direct feed of the latest news headlines to your desktop. The ticker can sit on your desktop, or you can run it over a screensaver. Headlines for the latest news, stock quotes, sports scores, or weather info will scroll across your screen; if you’re interested in reading the entire article, you can follow a link given at the edge of the ticker. My Yahoo News Ticker also works in conjunction with your My Yahoo account, and is free of advertisements. The product is a free download.
