Indiegogo Campaign Raises Over $1000 In 24 Hours For Neil Armstrong Memorial

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) August 29, 2012

In less than a day, the Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund a memorial to the late Neil Armstrong has raised in excess of $1000 in pledges.

In 1969, Armstrong took that "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." as the first man to touch the soil of a place other than earth. In 2012, we mourn his loss, as an "Eagle has landed." We say, 'Long live that "Eagle" in our hearts and memories'.

The memorial project teams up with one of America's premier artists working in the medium of bronze statuary, Stanley J. Watts, to create a nine foot tall, larger than life (because Neil was larger than life) bronze monument to this great American icon who has recently fallen. Mr. Watts' passion concerning this project will result in a masterpiece of incredible proportions. The statue will be hand-detailed & cast in bronze and set upon an engraved granite base. The base will include a "hidden safe" that will have a time capsule to be opened on that day when man first sets foot on Mars. Armstrong's deepest desire was to be that man, volunteering at the age of 80 to undertake such a mission. This time capsule will connect Armstrong to that dream!

Funds raised on Indiegogo will cover the cost of design & creation of the bronze statue and the granite base, as well as delivery and installation of same, and production of the ancillary items involved. It is our intent to donate the finished work to NASA – Space Center Houston.

To help make this dream a reality, visit and donate today.

Any overfunding of this project, will go to creation of the Neil Armstrong Avionics Scholarship Fund to encourage youth in their dreams to "be an astronaut when I grow up".
