Packt Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of Drupalopolis, a community site for people with an interest on Drupal, the popular content management system. Packt’s dedicated website on Drupal will allow visitors to access articles, tutorials, announcement of new book titles as well as special offers related to Packt’s Drupal product offerings. This includes books and eBooks as well as the online Drupal library in PacktLib that hosts an extensive collection of Packt’s Drupal books on demand from the cloud. Furthermore, Packt’s Drupal authors and reviewers will also share their knowledge on this site to engage with users.
Packt’s Open Source Project Royalty Scheme has contributed more than $100,000 dollars to the Drupal project alone over the last six years. When Packt sells a book on Drupal, a royalty is paid to the Drupal project to help sustain the Open Source project as well as subsidising developments to the program. Dries Buytaert, founder of Drupal, has said, “The Drupal project and its community have grown sharply over the last couple of years. The support that Packt has shown, through its book royalties and awards, has contributed to that success and helped the project handle its growth. The Drupal Association uses the money that Packt donates on a number of things including server infrastructure and the organization of events.”
New content will be available on Drupalopolis every week meaning that this site will provide the latest news on Drupal for visitors. It is an essential resource for Drupal users, such as site owners and administrators, to be updated with the latest developments from Drupal as well as the chance to communicate with fellow users and learn tips from experts to update their skill set. In addition to this, visitors will also be able to find out information on Drupal user groups worldwide so that they can join meetups offline to engage with other Drupal enthusiasts.
Drupalopolis is still at the beta phase, and as such Packt Publishing is open to feedback and comments. Email drupal(at)packtpub(dot)com to share your opinions and to put forward suggestions to help develop the website.
