iRounds launched officially on iTunes two weeks ago with little fan fare, but in two short weeks have built a user base of 40 OB/GYN practices with more than 250 users. iRounds was built by physicians for physicians to enhance the patient care continuum to allow seamless communication and patient hand off.
"The ability to give doctors a means to communicate and hand off patients in a secure manner is key to the patient care continuum." said Kurian Thott M.D. Founder and CEO of iRounds, LLC. Physicians have struggled for years to balance their time in the office and at the hospital. Technology has been available in various forms for years but until recently smartphone technology has just caught up with current needs.
The iRoundsOB mobile App available on iTunes utilizes a mobile and web based platform that gives the physician office a system to enter patient information and maintain a schedule that the doctor can access through the App and update patient information in real time.
"The feedback we've started to receive from early adapters has been very positive and we are excited to be gaining some momentum." noted a company spokesperson. The company is planning to expand into other areas of medicine besides OB/GYN to give more physicians access this system.
The future if mobile healthcare is in its infancy and companies like iRounds and iRounds.net are starting to pave the way in how the future of mobile technology should look like.
iRounds is based in the Washington D.C. area with the mission to provide seamless patient care options for physicians. Other medical specialties will be added to its product line in the next few months.
