Is Your Lab Ready for HAZCOM 2012 – Hazard Communication?

Midland, Ontario (PRWEB) June 13, 2012

As of May 25, 2012, the revised Hazard Communication (Haz Comm) standard from OSHA is in effect in the U.S., though labs have until June 2016 to implement all aspects of the new standard.

The new standard’s goal is to better protect workers from chemical hazards by incorporating the best from the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, also known as GHS, which will impact any lab that deals with these hazards.

Lab Manager Magazine has those labs in mind with its June 2012 cover story, “[Hazcom 2012: Are You Prepared?” by safety expert Vince McLeod. The article includes the history of Haz Comm, specific deadlines for complying with every aspect of the new standard, and its impact on labeling, material safety data sheets, and employee training.

Lab managers who need to comply with the new Haz Comm will benefit by checking out Lab Manager Magazine’s informative feature in the June 2012 issue, now available on the magazine’s website, The site also includes other articles, features and tips focused on helping managers run their labs like a business and achieve the highest level of success they can.
