PC gamers from across the nation assembled at the Pasadena Convention Center on April 24th and 25th for Newegg.com’s premiere LAN (local area network) PC gaming competition, LANfest2k4.

More than 400 attendees braved scorching temperatures to participate in what became the largest event of its type in Southern California history.

A mix of gamers, spectators, vendors, media, and industry professionals partook in the 36-hour event festivities and mingled with an exuberant Newegg staff that ensured complete satisfaction and enjoyment for all in attendance.

Participants fragged it out in a capacity 240-seat Bring Your Own Computer area, rubbed elbows with reps from the hottest hardware companies in the business and grooved to the adrenaline-pumping sounds of live DJs. A spectator theater, sponsor presentations, hourly raffles, beautiful hostesses, and even eating contests were also at the event to help round out the various activities.

The pinnacle of LANfest2k4 was the robust multi-player tournament. Gamers battled in head-to-head and team-versus-team format tournaments on a high-end D-Link gigabit network. The tournament featured three of today’s most revered video games: “Battlefield 1942,” “Call of Duty,” and “Unreal Tournament.” Each tournament bracket was played on 40 custom-built elite systems specifically designed for the event by LANfest2k4’s corporate sponsors.

A complete event summary, list of tournament winners, photographs and streaming videos are available for download on Newegg.com.
