Though there are plenty of tools and frameworks available to build the custom e-commerce website, narrowing down to the choice best suited for the firm can be tricky. From Magento to joomla, each tool provides distinct features to boost the e-Commerce web portal, to help startup businesses and mid-level enterprises, Mr. Vinod Subbaiah, e-Commerce expert and the CEO of Asahi Technologies, a leading Web development company from New York, answers and clarifies queries on choosing the right shopping cart software
Q: There is plenty of shopping cart software available on the web and developers are spoilt for choice. What is the best tool for someone looking to develop an eCommerce portal?
“Before choosing an e-Commerce platform, businesses should look into their exact requirements from the CMS, starting with the cost factor, maintenance, support and extensions. Agreed that there are plenty of tools available on the internet, but only a few of them are really effective for a professional business portal. Every tool has its pros and cons. For instance, Opencart provides lot of stylish templates, but is often susceptible to bugs. Magento can be used from low level to complex e-Commerce development but has a terrible loading time as the volume gets higher. Another option is a shaper analysis of one’s business requirements along with a professional web consultancy firm, that can eventually help with development as well.”
Q: Upgrades and migration of frameworks seem essential after each release by firms and are preferred by webmasters, what’s the whole process about?
“In general, there are two types of migration; the first method is by installing plug-ins for the framework in accordance with business requirements. Another is manually updating the source code to the latest patches released by developers, but the former is a much safer and secure approach to any e-Commerce site. An important issue before migration is to create a back up of source code and database just in case of bugs or crashes.”
Q: Any particular migration related issues that one needs to think about?
“In most instances, even the most secure platforms develop security loopholes if the development firm doesn’t do the migration right. Proper migration plans need to be drawn and executed during off peak hours in order to eliminate downtime and business losses associated with it.”
Q: What is the one thing to keep in mind for startup businesses venturing online?
“Businesses have realized that it is essential to have an e-Commerce site to diversify sales avenues and increase revenue. According to Forrester research, online shoppers in the United States spent around $202 billion in 2011 itself, and the figures will rise up by about 45% in 2016 to $327 billion. Everybody wants their share of the pie. Startup businesses venturing into e-Commerce should build a solid product line, and have a website that has advanced browsing capabilities so that their customers can do quick searches on products, or drill down by doing category searches to the product they want.”
Q: What can expected next from Asahi Technologies in innovative e-Commerce and web development?
“Asahi Technologies is working on its own framework for e-Commerce development. The new e-Commerce framework will revolutionize the way e-commerce applications are built. It will pave the way for ordinary users that are not as computer savvy, to launch their own e-commerce portal without any technology help from a software firm.”
Earlier this week, Asahi Technologies launched their exclusive helpline services for Small business owners that would enable them to get free consultation on the Platform that they should choose for their online Business. This service was launched as part of Asahi’s “Advanced Technology for all” initiative aimed at bringing advanced technologies used by industry leaders easily available to small business owners who have very little to no budgets.
