Toronto, ON (PRWEB) August 29, 2012
Canada’s most sustainable city in 2010, according to Corporate Knights Magazine – prides itself on its commitment to the environment. Toronto is also widely regarded as a beacon of compassion, home to hundreds of charities and an array of social policies designed to support its citizens.
It comes as no surprise, then, to find a Toronto-based company leading the way on sustainability and compassion with its business offerings. Canada Junk Removal has initiated a new electronics recycling program as part of its recent partnership with the Canadian Center for Abuse Awareness (CCAA), a charitable organization dedicated to significantly reducing the incidence and impact of abuse through education and public awareness. CCAA operates entirely on private donations, with no government funding.
Consequently, Canada Junk’s partnership is poised to have a substantial benefit for the charity. The program will dedicate to the charity a portion of all proceeds from the recycling of electronics dropped off at red Canada Junk recycling boxes (similar to clothing drop boxes already scattered around the city). In addition, the program aims to divert electronic waste from landfills, reducing stress on Toronto’s already strained waste removal efforts.
Brian McKague from Canada Junk noted that the program is a natural fit for the company, which enforces a rigorous policy of recycling all possible materials gleaned during its junk removal operations and has a history of introducing progressive new services as well as socially responsible behaviour.
If you have electronics you’d like to donate, you can find the locations of the new boxes on the websites of Canada Junk and the CCAA.
