San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2011
Mocana, a company that focuses on securing the “Internet of Things”, announced that it has been selected as a “SINET 16 Innovator” by the influential Security Innovation Network. Mocana, who was also named to the SINET 16 last year, is the only company ever to have won the award twice. CEO Adrian Turner will present Mocana’s innovative technology for securing mobile apps and connected devices during the 2011 SINET Showcase, to be held October 26 at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., supported by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science & Technology Directorate.
Recently, Mocana announced that it had received a strategic investment from Intel Corporation. This follows a significant investment last year from Symantec, the world’s largest security company. In September, the World Economic Forum in Geneva named Mocana from a field of over 800 as one of their 25 Technology Pioneers for 2012. In the past week, Mocana has made two major announcements for new product lines aimed at securing Android devices and securing Android apps.
More than 100 emerging technology companies were considered in a two-stage process by the SINET Showcase Steering Committee comprised of leaders from the government, industry, investment and academic communities ( http://www.security-innovation.org/steering.htm ). The committee worked with federal agencies and private industry to identify their most critical requirements, and these criteria that were among those used to evaluate applicants. The SINET Showcase is considered one of the most influential Beltway gatherings within for digital security experts. Participants at the SINET conference this year will include General Keith B. Alexander, Commander of U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) and Director, National Security Agency/Chief, Central Security Service (NSA/CSS), among many others.
“We’re honored to be recognized by our peers and colleagues at SINET, and we look forward to Mocana working more closely with the federal sector to help secure smart devices and mobile applications in critical contexts”, said Mocana CEO Adrian Turner.
Mocana is developing the industry’s only device-independent Smart Device Security platform that secures all aspects of IP addressable devices as well as the information, applications and services that run on them. Mocana’s solutions dramatically increase confidence, trust and compliance among OEMs, service providers and their customers. Every day, millions of people use products sold by over 150 companies that leverage Mocana’s Device Security solutions, including Cisco, Honeywell, Dell, General Electric, General Dynamics, Avaya and Harris, among others. Mocana recently won Frost & Sullivan’s Technology Innovation of the Year award for Device Security, and was named to the Red Herring Global 100 as one of the “top 100 privately-held technology companies in the world”. In September 2011, the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland selected Mocana from a field of more than 800 nominees as one of its 25 “Technology Pioneers for 2012”.
