“The new functionality introduced in Handy Backup 6.7 was imported from a different project that we are working on right now,” said Alexander Prichalov, head of Novosoft Development Department. “This autumn we are planning to release a new generation of backup software with several revolutionary functions that have never appeared in backup tools before. Some of them are compatible with the current architecture of Handy Backup, so we just took a piece of code from the new program and inserted it into the old one.”
Handy Backup 6.7 extends context menu of Windows Explorer with a new “Backup with Handy Backup” option which instantly adds the selected data to a new backup task. Right now, this kind of integration works with files and folders only, but in the next versions Novosoft plans to implement the same for databases and disk images.
“In the next versions we are planning let users see their e-mail messages, computer’s physical devices and all other data as common folders,” added Mr. Prichalov. “This will allow them to back up their computers via Windows context menu, or by common drag-and-drop operations.”
All existing customers of Handy Backup 6 can upgrade to the latest version 6.7 for free, by simply downloading and reinstalling the program.
