With the goal of achieving optimal patient care, IHE is an initiative that strives to improve how systems in a healthcare organization share information. According to IHE, systems developed in accordance with their standards communicate with other systems better, are easier to implement and enable providers to use information more effectively.
As an ECM software solution, OnBase tested successfully for the IHE profiles called Document Repository, Document Source and Secure Application. These designations mean that OnBase can:
- Share content from and with any number of systems
- Receive content from other IHE-compliant systems
- Reliably work with other systems compliant to the framework
- Make content available when authorized
OnBase has been compliant with these IHE profiles in 2009, 2010 and now, 2011. Being compliant qualifies OnBase to participate in the upcoming Interoperability Showcase, held during HIMSS 2011. At last year’s HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, more than 2,000 pieces of clinical content from more than 90 vendors was effectively stored and accessed through OnBase.
