RazorInsights, an innovative provider of clinical information technology, is paving the way for eased adoption of electronic health records within the underserved Rural and Critical Access hospital segment.
Following its 2010 introduction of ONE-Electronic Health Record, a Complete Inpatient EHR(ONC-ATCB 2011/2012), RazorInsights immediately saw the need for a comprehensive enterprise system. With a financial management solution just made available, and its Ambulatory EHR in Beta testing, RazorInsights expects to offer ONE-Enterprise Edition in the 2nd quarter of 2012. “By eliminating interfaces, our hospital clients can provide seamless care across the continuum,” said Reed Liggin, R.Ph MBA, president of RazorInsights. “With our hospital clients’ financial and ambulatory records residing on the same database, we’ll be providing a truly integrated solution – not a system pieced together through the purchase of another company’s product.”
There have been many obstacles prohibiting rural hospitals’ ability to access this type of advanced healthcare technology. The number one road block has been revenue. However, incentive payments made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) have substantially reduced the startup costs associated with EHR adoption. ARRA’s HITECH provisions grant stimulus funds to healthcare providers that adopt and effectively use Electronic Health Record systems. The overall goal is to develop a nationwide health information exchange infrastructure, thus improving patient safety and overall quality of care.
RazorInsights’ Full Measure Support service is alleviating much of the fear associated with EHR adoption and providing greater value for its customers. “We do the build for our hospitals,” said COO Michael McKenzie. “We deliver our clients a customized solution based on their individual needs and workflow. They’re able to focus their valuable time on patient care and not data entry, which translates into dollars saved on their end.”
