Reader Bee’s First Story Maker App Features First Kid-Friendly Apple iPad Keyboard

Learning Circle Kids releases iOS 8 app that enables early childhood learners to become confident readers

Camas, Wash. (PRWEB) October 09, 2014

Reader Bee’s First Story Maker, a new iOS 8 iPad app from Learning Circle Kids, features the first custom iPad keyboard for children. Through use of the Honeycomb Keyboard, a child’s story comes to life with magic pictures that transform into words and back again with the tap of a finger to help them learn to read and write. The Honeycomb Keyboard is installed system-wide and can be used throughout the Apple iPad with Safari, Mail, Pages, Notes and anywhere else a keyboard is used.

Reader Bee’s First Story Maker is based on the Honeycomb Reading method, a basic approach that limits what is presented to the child during each session, linking sounds, letters, words and stories in a step-by-step process. The Honeycomb Keyboard pairs pictures and letters, allowing children to find letters with ease. The honeycomb array of letters enables emerging readers to easily swipe rhyming words (hat, cat, sat) and sight words (the, and, is) with one stroke.

The iPad app features more than 100 pictures that children can drag into stories and tap to make the word appear to inspire tale-telling and jumpstart their spelling. For example, once a picture of an octopus is pulled into the story, tapping changes it magically into the spelled word ‘octopus.’ A child can also type words to be replaced by a picture to create a visual reinforcement of the word. For instance, when a child types ‘cat’ – a picture of a cat will appear where that word was.

“Children can get a huge head start in reading with this keyboard,” said Ann McCormick, president and founder of Learning Circle Kids. “We are very pleased that Apple’s new system gives us the opportunity to make learning easier and more enjoyable for children.”

Reader Bee teaches young children to become confident readers through a simplified approach to traditional phonics along with providing tools that spark young learners’ curiosity. The product line’s first iPad app, Reader Bee and the Story Tree, guides preschoolers and kindergarteners through the basics of sounds, letters and words to reading fluency. The iPad app prepares kids to use the Honeycomb Keyboard by introducing seven letters at a time. Through simplified reading methods and a custom keyboard, young children can take charge of their learning and continue to grow even when the adults in their lives are unable to assist them.
