Experiential learning company expands line of welding education tools with portable set for identifying weld defects and discontinuities.
EAU CLAIRE, WI, August 24, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ — Realityworks, Inc. announces a new product for welding educators and trainers: the RealCareer Welding Solutions Weld Defects Kit. The Weld Defects Kit will join Realityworks’ current line of experiential learning tools for welding education, including the guideWELD VR welding simulator and the guideWELD LIVE real welding guidance system.
The portable, lightweight Weld Defects Kit contains 13 plastic, true-to-life models of common defects that can occur when welding. Educators can use the kit to inspect welds and instruct welding students on how to identify and correct common defects and discontinuities. Students can use it to understand how weld defects occur and how to address them by correcting both their machine and their technique. The Weld Defects Kit includes an instructor guide, welding posters, welding defect flashcards and comprehensive curriculum with training lessons covering major aspects of welding: welding safety, types and applications of welding, and weld testing.
“The Weld Defects Kit is the hands-on learning tool that educators have been asking for,” said Realityworks President and CEO Timmothy Boettcher. “At a time when the need for qualified future welders is high, the Weld Defects Kit, along with our other RealCareer Welding Solutions products, is positioned to help students improve their welding techniques more quickly.”
The Weld Defects Kit was showcased at the American Welding Society’s (AWS) Instructors’ Institute in July. It will be on display to over 40,000 welding professionals at the FABTECH Conference in Chicago November 9-12 and at the Association for Career & Technical Education’s CareerTech VISION 2015 conference in New Orleans November 19-22. This conference hosts over 4,000 educators, education influencers and corporate representatives from around the nation.
