If you encounter problems shutting down Windows 98, enable the “fast shutdown” option.
If you encounter problems shutting down Windows 98, you can enable the “fast shutdown” option. Click Start, Programs, and Accessories. Click System Tools, then select System Information. The System Information window will appear. From the System Information menu, click Tools and select the System Configuration Utility. The System Configuration Utility window will appear. Select the General tab and click the Advanced button. Check the box for “Disable Fast Shutdown”–this will enable the Fast Shutdown option. You should have a clean and quick shutdown of Windows 98.
