SoftMaker Office 2010 for Linux now shipping

Nuremberg (Germany); April 6, 2010 German software vendor SoftMaker (www.softmaker.com) announced today that it has begun shipping the release version of its office suite SoftMaker Office 2010 for Linux. This new version adds document tabs,superior Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility, and KDE/Gnome integration to this fast and reliable office suite.

German office suite developer SoftMaker announced today the release of the latest version of its Linux office suite, SoftMaker Office 2010 for Linux.

This new version comes with many improvements, such as excellent file filters for Microsoft Office 2007 documents, document tabs like those in Mozilla Firefox, presentation-quality charts in the PlanMaker spreadsheet program, and integration into KDE, Gnome,and the CUPS printing system.

SoftMaker Office offers counterparts to the core applications in Microsoft Office: TextMaker 2010 is the Microsoft Word-compatible word processor. PlanMaker 2010 takes over the part of the spreadsheet, offering flawless compatibility with Microsoft Excel,and SoftMaker Presentations is SoftMaker’s alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint.

The predecessor version, SoftMaker Office 2008, has often beed lauded for its quickness, reliability, and low hardware demands. These advantages have been kept in SoftMaker Office 2010. Martin Kotulla, SoftMaker’s CEO, said: “We carefully designed all new features to preserve these important assets. As a result, SoftMaker Office 2010 runs perfectly even on small netbooks and older PCs.”

Now comes with three licenses in the box

Many households and companies own more than one computer, and SoftMaker Office 2010 can be installed and run on up to three of them.
In contrast to Microsoft Office Home & Student, SoftMaker Office’s licenses can be used both at home and in businesses.

After intensive beta testing, SoftMaker Office 2010 for Linux is now available for purchase. It retails for US$79.95 or EUR 79.95, with significant discounts for users of older versions.

SoftMaker also offers a 30-day trial version as a free download from the company’s web site.
