Summer bargain hunters beware spammers are skipping their tans and working overtime to issue spam disguised as last minute summer deals to dupe the unsuspecting vacation-maker, leaving them at risk to identity theft or other malicious email borne scams. SPAMfighter Reports 49% Rise in Travel Deal Spam in the Last Month
Summer bargain hunters beware spammers are skipping their tans and working overtime to issue spam disguised as last minute summer deals to dupe the unsuspecting vacation-maker, leaving them at risk to identity theft or other malicious email borne scams.
SPAMfighter <http://www.spamfighter.com/> reports a 49% increase last month in spam moonlighting as emails from United Airlines and other major airlines as well as travel booking services. SPAMfighter attributes the increase to the latest travel trend frugality. U.S. Travel Association cited that almost two-thirds (62 percent) of U.S. adults intending to travel for leisure purposes between now and October are more likely than last year to comparison shop for deals and travel bargains especially on the internet.
Spammers are playing on human emotion by sending out email booby traps disguised as last-minute summer deals offering ridiculously low prices and airfares to catch out the unsuspecting summer deal-seeker, says SPAMfighter co-founder Martin Thorborg. People should always visit trusted travel and events sites directly, not by clicking on links in emails received. Using a community-based spam filter can also dramatically reduce the amount of
harmful spam received, adding an additional layer of security so you receive the emails you want, when you want them.
SPAMfighter, with a growing community of over six million people worldwide, filters over 32 million emails and blocks over 29.5 million spam emails per day. For more information, contact me or visit www.spamfighter.com and please follow us on Twitter.com/SPAMfighter
