By integrating their systems, STARLINE and MODIUS have created a turnkey solution to give data center managers the granular power monitoring they need to optimize their power systems and report detailed usage statistics. This interoperability provides data center operators the ability to easily integrate MODIUS monitoring software to the flexible STARLINE Track Busway system and then track granular power consumption data for enabling improved power optimization and customer chargeback.
And, according to Mr. Swift, the new integration offers data center operators the best of both worlds. "With a flexible busway power system that is easily configurable to the changing needs in the data center, along with continuous power monitoring and measurement, data center managers can now more easily optimize their power usage and better manage power as a resource," he adds.
The integration between the two systems allows advanced power usage data from the STARLINE Critical Power Monitoring (CPM) meters to be easily captured and recorded on a continuous basis by the MODIUS OpenData unified monitoring system. The STARLINE CPMs at each service feed can report the data either as SNMP and/or ModBus RTU. MODIUS OpenData can then use this data to provide detailed power consumption statistics at varying levels, including: room-, zone-, row- or rack-level. The CPM meters are pre-configured in the MODIUS system, and once deployed are automatically tracked by the MODIUS monitoring software.
