Recent computer science grad should find help at these IT job search sites.
Dear Molly: I am going to be graduating this June with an undergraduate degree in computer science. I know I should start looking for jobs–I’d really like to take the summer off, but I’m afraid if I do all the good jobs will be gone by fall. But I don’t have the time to go job hunting around the country. Are there any Web sites that are specifically for people just out of college?
Molly says: If you’re looking for a job in IT and you’re not sure if you want to be a programmer or systems analyst, the best place to start is in your own head. You’ll have to decide what kind of IT job you want before the Web sites will do you any good. Coming up with a way of directing your job search and focusing on one or two potential job titles is a good way to do that.
Once you’ve done that, here are a few Web sites designed for graduating seniors or that have specific areas dedicated to new college graduates: headhunter.net, College Grad Job Hunter and the section of the Monster job site that is for new graduates. Also try out the new jobs section on our site and let me know what you think of it.
Pay attention to the information on the sites about creating a resumé and prepping for an interview. You’ll need a good resumé and a good interview suit (or two) to wear.
