TopGrading Solutions Finds That Nearly Half of Employed are Searching for Jobs on Company Time

(Port St. Lucie, FL) – As the worst recession in 30 years begins its turnaround, professionals realize that the worst is over as they test the waters looking for the tide of new positions beginning to surface. 

TopGrading Solutions recently conducted research to determine how much time an employed candidate is spending looking for a new job during business hours. The search firm is a perennial President Club winner within MRINetwork®, the world’s largest search and recruitment organization.  It works domestically and internationally with a focus on the industries of Payments and Prepaid Systems; Retail and Hospitality Technology; and Supply Chain Planning, Purchasing, and Consulting, for both permanent and contract hires.

TopGrading Solutions has spent the last 2 months surveying candidates from the Electronic Payments and the Retail Technology Sector to determine if candidates were using company time to search for other opportunities.  Results have indicated that nearly half regularly look for their next position while on the clock.  Fifty-three percent of those surveyed stated that they would never use company time to job hunt, while our second largest group at 18% said they use an hour or less per day to search.  11% said they use 1-2 hours, while 9% use 2-3 hours.  Another 9% said they spend three hours or more to look for a new job.   
 
What do these numbers mean to companies in these sectors?  With employees keeping an eye on the job market, companies must be ready to replenish their ranks and keep the stars they have.   This means being ‘plugged in’ to the pool of talent in their niche and to the needs of Today’s worker.
