Total Immersion Introduces First Augmented Reality M-Commerce Application for iPhone 4

– iPhone4 AR App Uses Face Tracking – Enables Consumers to ‘Try on’ Glasses, Find the Right Look and Buy… on the Spot

Using an iPhone 4 or iPod Touch with a front facing camera, the app identifies user faces and applies virtual glasses to their video image. Users are able to adjust the fit, select their eyes and hair shades, to choose different styles, frames and colors to find their perfect look. They can even send photos to friends through social networks, connect to a map pinpointing the nearest store to buy offline, or complete the transaction online.

Beginning of January, Ebay in the US and French retailer Atol, adapted this augmented reality tool to their m-commerce platform.

"This app was adapted by Total Immersion from a very successful Web-based AR application for the mobile environment," Uzzan said. "On the Web, the app generated a 50 percent month-on-month traffic increase, and more than 30 percent of visitors tried the AR experience. We expect to get even better metrics for the mobile app " Uzzan adds. "This is just the beginning – imagine the same environment for trying on jewelry, or even makeup, along with so much more."
