Upgrade DirectX

Click Start, Run, type DXDIAG, and click OK. The DirectX diagnostic will tell you everything you need to know about the version of DirectX on your system.

DirectX is the Windows API that provides many of the high-performance sound and graphics features that we have come to expect from today’s high-end games. Check the system requirements on the side of the game box and see what version of DirectX is required. Then click Start, Run, type DXDIAG, and click OK. The DirectX diagnostic will tell you everything you need to know about the version of DirectX on your system. If you need to upgrade DirectX, you can download the upgrade from http://www.microsoft.com/directx. You may also find that a later version of DirectX is included on the game CD. Never downgrade to an older version of DirectX, because games that rely on the later versions may no longer work.
