Self-study is now an option from Prosoft. Webmaster certification Self-study is now an option from Prosoft.
Dear Molly: I am interested in getting a webmaster certification. I already have built several sites and have plenty of experience but I do not have the cash for the CIW class. How should I go about studying for the test, and can you point me to the least expensive way to go about this?
Molly says: The most expensive (and fastest) way to study for the exam is to take classes. The least expensive way is to buy a few books and study for the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) certification test on your own.
In addition to a couple of books, try out some of the online or CD-ROM based training materials for the test. While you are studying, take what you are learning and incorporate it into a few new Web sites or revise one or two you have already created. That way you’ll be putting what you learn into practice right away and you will find it easier to remember what you’ve been studying.
Prosoft, the organization that created CIW and the related certifications, now offers self-study products. You can find out more about these products at the Prosoft Web site. ComputerPrep sells the materials.
